History
Built in the year 1354, by King Ajaypal Chauhan, the founder ruler of the city. This oldest fort present in India was used as an important centre for performing activities of the military, during the period when the Mughals used to rule Ajmer. As time passed, the fort was dismantled during the British Raj, ordered by Lord William Bentinck, and then the fort served as a nursing home to troops of British.

Due to the fort's location at the hillside, tourists get to view the stunning sight of the city below. Phuta Darwaza, Lakshmi Pol, and Gagudi Ki Phatak are the three huge gateways of this fort. One can view the finest art of that period through the complex craving done on the structure, though one can see only the remains of the stunning structure of the fort.

As we know, the fort was built for military activities, and for that purpose, the fort consists of tunnels to protect oneself from the attacks of the enemy. Technically, the fort has tunnels in the crisscross section for hideouts.
